The method behind the madness- why we do what we do.

Here at Body Shape Fitness in Ely, Cambridgeshire we use a combination of HIIT training and strength training. 

 

So what is HIIT? - High intensity interval training 

 

It’s characterised by intervals of High intensity vigorous exercise, interspersed with periods of rest or lower intensity exercise. 

Why do we use HIIT over traditional endurance training?? It serves as an excellent way to improve overall strength, cardiovascular health, lower blood pressure, and get great results.

 

It’s also the most time effective way to exercise and research has shown it's just as effective at improving metabolic health as the endurance exercise route. Most people don’t have 2 hours a day 3-5 days per week to set aside for training so we adopted the training style that would give the best results in the shortest possible time. As little as 25 mins 3x per week has been shown to hugely improve health outcomes and performance. 

 

Our personal trainer led sessions, in Ely, are designed to get the best from our clients and push them to their limits in short bursts of exercise. They are designed to strengthen muscles, push you beyond your comfort zone and challenge you to get the best results in weight loss, toning, strength and conditioning, as well as the mental health benefits that come along with regular exercise. 

 

We spend a lot of time designing the sessions to provide a full body workout, to reach the desired results for our clients in the shortest time possible.With a combination of body weight exercises and weight and resistance training we guide our members to give their best. The period we train for is anything from 20 seconds to 50 seconds depending on the session and the exercises we’re performing, and rest times vary from 5-30 seconds. 

Working for short periods with rests between, means that our clients can work hard for the time period knowing that a rest period is coming. The rest then allows a decrese in heart rate and the opportunity to recover before the next work period starts, this could be the same exercise, by more likely its going to be an exericse using another muscle group, providing even more time for the first area worked to recvoer, before coming back to it later. 

 

With 13 years under our belt and over 3000 happy customers through our programme all achieving incredible results in weight loss, toning, conditioning and strength our method really does work and showcases our knowledge and expertise in what we do. We aim to keep our clients engaged with our sessions, and the broad array of exercise we use and sessions designs, combining strength and cardiovascular training keep our members coming back week after week.
